6 weekly in person Sewing or Patternmaking classes on Monday evening or Saturday afternoons. Offer includes one month free of our private on-line tutorial videos with 24 hour access!
July - August 2026
Basic Sewing - Level 1
Never sewn before? No problem! Do you need a refresher to sharpen up your basic sewing skills? This class is for you!
You will learn fundamentals of sewing such as:
✅ How to hand sew and operate a sewing machine
✅ How to measure the human body using a tape measure
✅ Understand sewing terminology, supplies and equipment
✅ An introduction to basic fabrics and textiles
✅ How to use a basic commercial sewing pattern
✅ Build a portfolio of seam finish samples
✅ Understanding ruler increments and fractions
✅ Learn to construct sewn products
You will complete the class by making a pin cushion, pillow, tote bag, and a sweatshirt.
Duration: In person 2.5 hour session, once per week for 6 weeks. (We recommend 5 - 10 hours per week for on-line tutorial video demonstrations.)
Starts: Monday July 6, 2026 from 6:00pm - 8:30pm OR Sat July 11, 2026 from 2:00pm - 4:30pm.

Basic Patternmaking Level 1
This class is for those who have basic knowledge and experience in sewing and have used a sewing pattern before.
You will learn:
✅ Basic patternmaking terminology and industry methods
✅ How to use patternmaking tools
✅ Learn basic mathematical concepts essential for pattern drafting
✅ Learn to draft a female bodice, sleeve, skirt and pant foundational pattern. (note: men's patternmaking workshops available upon request)
✅ How to take proper measurements on the human body and a standard dressform
✅ Cut and sew 1st muslin prototype samples
✅ Transfer your size 10 basic foundational pattern onto tagboard

Meet the Instructors
Meet Ms. Pamela Lucas /CEO, Designer and lead Educator
The House of Pamela Renee’ was founded by Fashion Designer and Educator, Pamela Renee’ Lucas. Pamela, a native New Yorker is a graduate of the esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She has earned her degree in Fashion Design, Pattern Drafting and Draping as well as Apparel Production Management and has acquired 35+ years of experience in the Fashion Industry.
Pamela received her first sewing machine from her Dad when she was in the 7th grade. Little did she know, her sewing machine has and continues to fulfill her dreams and goals in the Fashion Industry.
As an educator, Pamela has earned a lifetime teaching certificate in Apparel and Textiles, has written curriculum for Clothing Construction and Fashion Design Programs. She is highly qualified to teach at the secondary and post- secondary levels.
Pamela is also the founder of The Academy of Patternmaking and Draping, an online subscription membership that teaches Fashion Industry Methods of Pattern Drafting and Draping.
As a fashion Designer, Pamela is known for her unique style in special occasion wear for men and women. Her clothing line exhibits exquisite taste, quality and high fashion. She has been featured in New York Fashion Week, Kansas City Fashion Week as well as numerous publications and live broadcasts on local television stations. Her attention to detail and fit, places her clothing styles on the top shelf.
Meet Stephanie McIntosh
Stephanie McIntosh is the founder and designer of Yet Luxxe, a luxury resort wear brand based in Kansas City.
She began sewing at the age of six, taught by her grandmother and father, and has over 20 years of experience in garment construction and design.
With a background in both fashion and textile arts, her expertise includes pattern drafting, alterations, and sustainable design techniques.
Her work has been featured on runways including Kansas City Fashion Week and Omaha Fashion Week.
Stephanie, a graduate of the Academy of Patternmaking and Draping, will be teaching our Introduction to Sewing classes.
Meet Richard Burguess
Richard Burgess is a veteran teacher now retired from secondary education school system. He has a love for the ARTS and has attended Johnson County Community College Fashion Design department. Burgess has experience in drafting patterns and creating designs in both men’s and women’s wear and his looks have been applauded at several well-respected fashion events. Richard has joined the fashion education team at the House of Pamela Renee and The Academy of Pattern Making and Draping. Richard enjoys sharing his experience and knowledge with those eager to learn and is passionate about assisting others along their fashion design journey.
