Beginner level classes to elevate your sewing skills this summer!

Introduction to Sewing

Never sewn before? No problem! This class is for you! 

You will learn fundamentals of sewing such as:
âś… How to hand sew
âś… How to operate a sewing machine
âś… Understand sewing terminology and methods
âś… An introduction to fabrics

You will complete the class by making a pin cushion, pillow and a tote bag.

*Includes a basic sewing kit, supplies and 24-hour access to the on-line video sewing portal

Duration: 3 hour session, once per week for 4 weeks in June
Starts: Wed June 4th from 5:45pm - 8:45pm OR Sat June 7th from 9am - 12pm. 
Location: The Crysler Building, 12401 E 43rd St, Suite 111, Independence MO 64055

JOIN - SATURDAY CLASSES

Beginner - Level I

This class is for those who have basic knowledge and experience with hand sewing and operating a sewing machine.

You will learn:
✅ How to use a basic commercial sewing pattern
✅ Understand fabric layout
✅ How to cut and read ruler increments
✅ Develop your sewing technique samples
âś… How to measure the human body

You will complete the class by constructing a jogging suit.

*Includes a 3-ring binder for sewing technique samples and 24 hour access to the on-line video sewing portal. Sewing kits can be purchased for an add'l $35.

Duration: 3 hours, once per week, for 4 weeks
Starts: Saturday, June 7th from 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Location: The Crysler Building, 12401 E 43rd St, Suite 111, Independence MO 64055

Beginner - Level II

This class is for those who have successfully completed Beginner Sewing Level One. In this class you will continue to build your sewing technique samples.

The beginner level two class is rigorous and homework must be completed!

There are 2 projects in this class:
âś… The first is a button-up shirt with sleeves, collar and a cuff.
âś… The second is a basic skirt or pants with pockets, a zipper and a waistband

*Includes a 3-ring binder for sewing technique samples and 24-hour access to the on-line video sewing portal. Sewing kits can be purchased for an add'l $35.

Duration: 3 hours, once per week, for 4 weeks
Starts: Saturday July 5th from 1pm - 3pm

Meet the Instructors

Meet Pamela Lucas

The House of Pamela Renee’ was founded by Fashion Designer and Educator, Pamela Renee’ Lucas. Pamela, a native New Yorker is a graduate of the esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.  She has earned her degree in Fashion Design, Pattern Drafting and Draping as well as Apparel Production Management and has acquired 35+ years of experience in the Fashion Industry.

Pamela received her first sewing machine from her Dad when she was in the 7th grade. Little did she know, her sewing machine has and continues to fulfill her dreams and goals in the Fashion Industry. 

As an educator, Pamela has earned a lifetime teaching certificate in Apparel and Textiles, has written curriculum for Clothing Construction and Fashion Design Programs. She is highly qualified to teach at the secondary and post- secondary levels. 

Pamela is also the founder of The Academy of Patternmaking and Draping, an online subscription membership that teaches Fashion Industry Methods of Pattern Drafting and Draping. 

As a fashion Designer, Pamela is known for her unique style in special occasion wear for men and women. Her clothing line exhibits exquisite taste, quality and high fashion.  Her attention to detail and fit, places her clothing styles on the top shelf.

Meet Stephanie McIntosh

Stephanie McIntosh is the founder and designer of Yet Luxxe, a luxury resort wear brand based in Kansas City.

She began sewing at the age of six, taught by her grandmother and father, and has over 20 years of experience in garment construction and design.

With a background in both fashion and textile arts, her expertise includes pattern drafting, alterations, and sustainable design techniques.

Her work has been featured on runways including Kansas City Fashion Week and Omaha Fashion Week.

Stephanie, a graduate of the Academy of Patternmaking and Draping, will be teaching our Introduction to Sewing classes.
